Marrakech: Hammouchi Meets the Head of the United Nations Police Division

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, met on Tuesday in Marrakech with the head of the United Nations Police Division and UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Rule of Law, Faisal Shahkar.

The meeting between Abdellatif Hammouchi and Faisal Shahkar took place at the “Les Jardins de la Menara” venue in Marrakech, which is hosting the 93rd session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-INTERPOL) from 24 to 27 November, according to a statement by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).

On this occasion, Shahkar emphasized the United Nations Secretary-General’s determination to strengthen security cooperation and partnership with Morocco’s national security services, with the aim of reinforcing and supporting the UN Police, both at its headquarters in New York and within the framework of its peacekeeping missions in conflict zones around the world.

The UN official also highlighted the importance of benefiting from the human resources of the Moroccan police in the various UN missions, given their operational expertise, professionalism, and mastery of several languages, which enables them to operate in different regions across the globe.

These talks form part of the bilateral meetings held by the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance with the heads of delegations from countries as well as international and regional organizations participating in the 93rd session of INTERPOL’s General Assembly.

The meetings aim to strengthen cooperation ties and consolidate security partnerships between the Kingdom of Morocco and its various regional and international partners, in the service of global security and the fight against all forms of transnational crime.
