Massive Data Leak. Mehdi Hijaouy’s Lawyers Issue a “Categorical Denial” to ABC

Mehdi Hijaouy’s lawyers reject “in the strongest possible terms” the accusations published by the Spanish daily ABC and are asking the newspaper to publish a correction.

In a statement published this Wednesday, September 9, in Paris, Mehdi Hijaouy’s lawyers deny the information published on September 7 by the Spanish daily ABC, under the byline of journalist Ketty Garat.

The article claims that Hijaouy was behind a massive data leak concerning Moroccan intelligence services for the benefit of the hacker group “Jabaroot.” An accusation categorically rejected by his lawyers, William Bourdon and Vincent Brengarth.

According to the statement, Mehdi Hijaouy has “never transmitted, communicated or disclosed” to a third party, and in particular to Jabaroot, databases, agent files or information concerning Moroccan intelligence services or surveillance operations.

His lawyers also state that he has never had any direct or indirect contact with ABC or with Ketty Garat. They consider the accusations to be “devoid of any factual basis,” arguing that the daily newspaper relies on anonymous sources without providing any tangible evidence establishing a link with the alleged leak.

Mehdi Hijaouy is therefore formally asking ABC to publish a correction and is calling on media outlets that have relayed this information to exercise “the utmost caution.”
