Abdellatif Hammouchi on Working Visit to the United Arab Emirates

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, has been on an official working visit to the United Arab Emirates since Tuesday, September 23, accompanied by a high-level security delegation.

According to a statement from Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the visit forms part of ongoing efforts to consolidate security partnerships and strengthen cooperation between the two countries across various policing and security fields. Hammouchi’s mission to the UAE included a meeting with Talal Rashid Al Zaabi, head of the Emirati State Security Service, joined by senior Emirati security officials.

The DGST noted that the talks gave rise to bilateral consultations covering a range of issues of common interest. Discussions also addressed pressing international and regional security challenges, with a focus on terrorism and extremism in conflict hotspots worldwide, particularly in Africa’s Sahel region.

The meeting further served to examine ways of enhancing operational cooperation between Morocco and the UAE in order to confront threats related to terrorism and transnational organized crime. Both sides highlighted the importance of activating and energizing joint security mechanisms that have already proven effective in international cooperation.

In addition, the visit provided an opportunity to broaden and diversify the forms and levels of bilateral cooperation. This includes the exchange of expertise and best practices across security domains, alongside reinforced coordination and information-sharing to ensure a firm and proactive response to hostile acts threatening the safety of both nations.
