His Majesty King Mohammed VI received Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, coordinator of the collective leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), at the Royal Palace in Rabat on Tuesday. The Sovereign appointed her Head of Government and tasked her with forming a new government, the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery announced in a statement.
The Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery announced that His Majesty King Mohammed VI received Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri at the Royal Palace in Rabat on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. In accordance with Article 47 of the Constitution, the Sovereign appointed the coordinator of PAM’s collective leadership Head of Government and tasked her with forming a new government.
The appointment follows the September 23 legislative elections. PAM came first with 97 seats in the House of Representatives, ahead of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), which won 66, and the Istiqlal Party, which secured 65.
A minister in the outgoing government responsible for national land use planning, urban development, housing and urban policy, El Mansouri is also the mayor of Marrakech.
