In a message addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the occasion of Throne Day, the President of the United States confirmed the unequivocal support of the United States for Morocco’s sovereignty and for the autonomy plan, presented as the only basis for a just and lasting solution, according to a statement by the Royal Cabinet.
On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Glorious Throne Day, His Majesty King Mohammed VI received a Message from the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.
In this Message, the American President conveyed His congratulations to His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, and to the Moroccan people, stressing that “this year, we celebrate 250 years of American history and enduring friendship with Morocco — a bond forged in trust and mutual respect.”
Regarding the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, the American President confirmed to His Majesty the King, may God preserve Him, that “the United States is clear: we recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara, and we support the Moroccan autonomy proposal as serious, credible, and realistic, as the only basis for a just and lasting solution.” “Any other path perpetuates the status quo, and it is unacceptable… This conflict must end now, and the United States will continue to drive progress toward this goal,” the Message continues.
Likewise, President Trump states that “Your Majesty’s Wise Leadership is a pillar of stability. Morocco’s steadfast commitment to advancing peace, combating extremism, and protecting the security of Americans and Moroccans, including through its crucial role in the Abraham Accords, reflects a valued partnership for the United States. To this end, we will also work together to ensure the security of the Sahel region.”
Regarding the bilateral economic partnership, the American President’s Message states: “Your Vision for growth opens opportunities for prosperity for both our peoples and economies.” In this regard, President Trump brought to the attention of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him: “I have instructed my teams to work toward economic and social development with Morocco, including in the territory of Western Sahara.” “Reliable American technology and innovation will continue to serve as partners (of Morocco) for the next 250 years, across all strategic sectors, including energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and defense.”
“Together we will build a new era. One that puts the interests of our two peoples first,” the Message concludes.
